Frequently Asked Questions
Senior Care Authority of Central NC helps older adults and families navigate senior care options, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, residential care homes, family care homes, home care resources, and related eldercare services.
We start by learning about your loved one’s needs, budget, location preferences, timing, and family situation. From there, we help create a personalized plan, identify appropriate options, schedule tours, and support you through the decision-making and move-in process.
In most cases, there is no cost to families for our placement services. We are typically paid a referral fee by the senior living community when a family chooses to move into a community we work with.
If there is ever a situation where a community does not compensate us, or where a separate consulting fee may apply, we will explain that clearly up front. Our goal is transparency from the beginning.
No. We represent and advise families, not communities.
Our recommendations are based on your loved one’s care needs, budget, personality, location preferences, and overall family situation. We help families compare options, understand the pros and cons, and make informed decisions with confidence.
We help families understand and evaluate a range of senior care options, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, residential care homes, including family care homes, skilled nursing, respite care, and in-home care.
We can also connect families with trusted local resources when additional support is needed, such as elder law attorneys, VA benefits guidance, long-term care insurance resources, hospice providers, home health, downsizing services, and other senior care professionals.
Not every family needs a senior living community right away. Sometimes the best next step may be care at home, legal or financial planning, caregiver support, or another resource.
We serve families across Central North Carolina, including Greensboro, Burlington, Asheboro, Southern Pines, Pittsboro, and surrounding communities.
Because we are local advisors, we personally know many of the senior living communities, care options, and professional resources in the areas we serve. Our guidance is local, personal, and relationship-based — not a national call center model.
The first step is a free, no-pressure conversation. We listen to what is happening, ask questions about your loved one’s needs, and help clarify the type of support that may be appropriate.
From there, we research options, create a personalized short list, explain why each option may or may not be a fit, help schedule tours, attend tours when helpful, and support your family through the decision and transition.
Yes. We regularly help families navigate memory care and dementia-related transitions. Jim is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and both Jim and Amy understand how emotional and complex these decisions can be.
We help families think through safety, wandering risk, behaviors, staffing, activities, room type, cost, location, and whether a memory care community is truly equipped for the person’s needs.
Online searches can produce long lists of communities, but they rarely tell you what matters most: which places are a good fit for your loved one’s needs, budget, personality, care level, and timing.
We help families filter through the noise. We know the local market, ask the right questions, help identify watch-outs, and walk with you through tours, comparisons, and next steps. Our goal is to save families time, reduce stress, and help them make a confident decision during a difficult transition.
